Head Coach Mike Jarvis
On tonight's game:
"Tonight, at times, we played well. If we could have taken care of the ball better it may have been a bit more interesting. We had a chance to make them sweat, but we had two or three possessions where we didn't get it done."
"(Arizona) is a team that makes very few mistakes. They are sound and solid. We found ourselves shooting a lot of three's in the second half and I think we just had tired legs."
On the impact of the loss of Carlos Monroe:
"This is the kind of team that until we get our best player back, we are going to take a lot of three's. In Carlos' absence we have found a real good player in Chris Watson. For a freshman to come in here against a Pac-10 opponent and pull down 15 rebounds and score in double figures is huge."
On Lute Olson's retirement and playing at Arizona:
"You know, honestly, Lute is one of my best basketball friends. Personally, I was really looking forward to being on the opposite end and coaching against Lute Olson. He is a legend."
Arizona Head Coach and Player Quotes
Head Coach Russ Pennell
On tonight's game:
"Florida Atlantic has a great basketball team. They shot the ball well tonight. One of the big things our players need to realize is that shooters don't see you unless you have your hands high and in their face. Our guys were surprised that they could get shots off so quickly."
On the first half turn-around
"Things started to turn around when Kyle Fogg got that steal in the first half. It got the crowd and the bench energized. He didn't play like a freshman tonight."
On Chase Budinger
"Chase is an all around player with his twenty-one points, five rebounds, and four assists. He is not just a shooter which is something our team needs."
On tomorrow night's game
"We had a late game tonight, and it's tough because we played so many guys for a lot of minutes, and then we have to do it again tomorrow. A good thing is that the other team is in the same situation. The big thing is to get our guys rested tonight."
Junior Guard Nic Wise
Regarding his stitches:
"My band-aid kept coming off, so I just threw it off. I didn't have any problems with the injury tonight."
On playing the first regular season game:
"It's good to get out and play teams besides the two division II schools we played in the exhibitions. We get tired of playing each other in practice. We saw other teams starting their seasons already this week and we were all eager to get out and play."
On being called the team's "spark plug":
"I get out there and try to make things happen, but I wouldn't say I'm the spark plug. When Chase is out there hitting shots, it gets me going. When Jordan is dominating inside, it gets me going. We're all spark plugs."
Junior Forward Chase Budinger
"We got the win. Any time you win you're happy. I wasn't happy with how we started. Our offensive pressure was weak. We let them shoot too many shots. We didn't get up on them and they were able to hit the open looks."
On having a good shooting night:
"My shot never went away. I hit my first few shots, which gave me confidence, and then I just kept hitting them. It felt really good."
On Nic Wise:
"Nic's our point guard. He's our leader out there. He did a great job last year, and an even better job this year. We just go with his stride."
