FORT COLLINS, CO -- Florida Atlantic University was defeated by Colorado State University, 81-56, Monday night in Ft. Collins, CO. The loss drops FAU to 1-1 on the season as it continues play at the Dell BCA Invitational.
FAU trailed 36-28 at the half before CSU put the game away with a 45-30 advantage in the second half. FAU fell victim to foul trouble as four Owls fouled out of the contest. Robert Williams and Jeff Cowans each led FAU with 13 points. Earnest Crumbley, who scored 24 points two days ago, was held to just four points before fouling out in 26 minutes of action.
"I have to give (Colorado State) credit," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. "They played very well tonight. They were able to make some shots, and we couldn't find any."
CSU outshot FAU 46 percent to 33 percent. FAU was called for 36 fouls compared to CSU's 19. That disparity resulted in the Rams going 32-for-43 from the line while FAU went 12-for-19.
Florida Atlantic concludes play at the BCA Invitational Tuesday night against IPFW at 7:30pm EDT.
