DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -Guard Paul Graham III scored 18 points to lead Florida Atlantic to a 68-62 win over Stetson in the Glenn Wilkes Classic on Friday night.
Center Carlos Monroe added 13 points and pulled down 15 of FAU's 42 rebounds to help the Owls (1-2) get their first win of the season.
Stetson was paced by guard Garfield Blair's 13 points. Sophomore forward Oliver Sheldon added 11 points, while junior forward Eric Diaz and sophomore guard Mark Lohuis each chipped in 10 points for the Hatters.
Stetson (1-2) led 60-59 after Blair made two free throws with 2:09 to play. But Graham converted two free throws at 1:52 to regain the lead.
Guard Carderro Nwoji then took over for the Owls, knocking down a 3-pointer with 51 seconds remaining to make it a 64-60 advantage. He went on to make four free throws in the final 36 seconds.
Stetson trailed by one point, 38-37, at the half despite shooting 28.6 percent (8 of 28). The Hatters were even more off the mark in the second half as they went 5-of-27 (18.5 percent) from the field.
Florida Atlantic didn't allow Stetson a field goal after Lohuis made a 3-pointer with 11:59 to play.
