Men's Hoops Can't Overcome Slow Start, Loses to Washington 77-71

SEATTLE, WA - Kore White had 12 points and nine rebounds, but the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to Washington 77-71 on Sunday night.

The Owls were cold to begin the game, not making their first field goal until more than seven minutes into the contest. FAU also struggled from the free throw line, making just five of their 13 attempts from the charity stripe and trailed by 11 at halftime 35-24.

The deficit was as much as 15 in the second half before the Owls clawed their way to within four points with just over a minute remaining, but get no closer.

White was one of four Owls in double figures, including Greg Gantt who led the Owls with 14 points. FAU will wrap up action at the World Vision Classic on Monday with a game against Georgia State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. eastern.
