BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team defeated Lynn University 78-59 in an exhibition win on Tuesday night.
Brett Royster led FAU with 20 points on the evening. The Owls were a little cold from the field in the first half shooting just 34 percent, but they heated up quickly in the second, shooting 56 percent from the floor in the 19-point win.
"I was really happy with the energy from the players on the floor, everyone on the bench, and the fans in the stands," said head coach Mike Jarvis after the game. Lynn's Chris Hall had 25 points to lead all scorers. FAU's highly touted recruiting class combined to contribute 40 points on the evening, including 18 points from Greg Gantt. Gantt went 4-for-6 from three point range.
1,192 fans attended the event, just missing the attendance of last year's meeting between the two teams. FAU will open the regular season on Friday night when they host Florida Tech as the second half of a doubleheader with the women's team. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
