A 28-12 run to finish the game propelled Florida Atlantic University past Nova Southeastern University, 85-75, Saturday night in an exhibition in Boca Raton, FL. FAU's Jeff Cowans led all scorers with 25 points while three other Owls finished in double figures.

The Owls trailed 63-57 with 7:54 remaining in the game before the team went on a 12-0 run over the next 2:51 to take a 69-63 lead. NSU would get as close as three points the rest of the way as Earnest Crumbley went 9-of-10 from the line to account for the Owls' final nine points. Crumbley finished with 15 points.

Cowans, a sophomore who led FAU in scoring as a freshman, went 11-of-15 from the field including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.

"Jeff is a dynamite player," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. "He worked extremely hard in the off-season, and he carried us tonight."

Daryl Dingle and Robert Williams finished with 12 points and 11 points, repectively. Dingle turned in a double-double with his game-high 12 rebounds. For the game, FAU outrebounded NSU 44-41 while just edging the Knights in shooting. Florida Atlantic connected with a 44 percent accuracy while Nova Southeastern shot 43 percent. FAU led 37-29 at the half.

The Owls next open their season November 17 at Hofstra.
