BOCA RATON, Fla. - Despite a career high 27 points from Justin Raffington, the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to North Texas 78-76 on Saturday night.

The Owls (10-18, 5-8 C-USA) lead 41-36 at the half. North Texas remained close on the strength of shooting 59.1 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes.

Coming out of the halftime break, the Mean Green went on an 18-5 run to take a 54-46 lead. The margin grew to double digits, but FAU wouldn't go away. The Owls trailed 73-68 with less than two minutes to go, before Raffington scored on a layup to pull within a possession.

After the Mean Green split a trip to the free throw line, Marquan Botley hit a triple to cut the deficit to a single point, 74-73. North Texas made two free throws, but FAU still had a chance to tie the game.

The Owls had a good look at what would have been a game-tying three, but the shot was just off the mark. North Texas made a pair of free throws to ice the game, but Jackson Trapp hit a triple at the buzzer to provide the final score. Pablo Bertone was the only other Owl in double-figures with 27.

FAU will travel to Tulane on Wednesday. Game time is set for 9 p.m. eastern and live stats and live audio of the game will be available at fausports.com. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN 106.3.
