Box Score

MIAMI, FL - Seniors Jordan McCoy and Greg Gantt each scored 19 points, but it was not enough as the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to FIU 84-65 on Thursday night.

The game got off to a sloppy start as both teams struggled to find their offense. When the offense did show, it came in a flurry for both sides. The Owls (11-14, 6-8 Sun Belt) and Panthers (13-10, 8-6) combined for 10 points in just over a minute. At the end of the exchange, the score was tied at 14. The score was tied again at 16 when FIU closed on 33-12 run to take a 49-28 halftime lead.

FAU began the second half with back to back threes and worked to within 13 points, but could not grab the defensive rebound on the next Panther possession and FIU hit a three pointer off of its third offensive rebound of the possession and the Owls would get no closer the rest of the game.

Jordan McCoy's 19 points tied his career high and he also grabbed nine rebounds. Pablo Bertone added 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Owls will travel to Mobile to face South Alabama on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. eastern and the game will be televised as part of the Sun Belt network package (CSS locally). It will also be available on ESPN3.com. Live audio of the game will also be available at www.fausports.com.
