JONESBORO, AR - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to Arkansas State 63-38 on Saturday night. Two separate runs by the Red Wolves keyed the victory.
Both teams got out of the gate slow to begin the game, with neither squad score for the first two and a half minutes. FAU (10-12, 5-6 Sun Belt) didn't score its first bucket until more than four minutes had elapsed. The Red Wolves (12-8, 6-5) immediately responded with an 18-4 run to take a 20-6 lead.
Greg Gantt cut the lead to 12 just before halftime at 30-18, but ASU scored 20 of the first 27 points in the second half to seal the win. 38 points is the lowest total of the season for the Owls. The team's two assists in the lowest total since at the least the 1997-98 season.
Gantt was the only Owl in double figures with 13. Richard Morrow chipped in seven points and seven rebounds in his first significant action in more than three weeks.
FAU will return home to host ULM on Thursday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and live stats and live audio of the game will be available. Tickets can be purchased by calling the FAU Ticket Office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
