BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team defeated Troy 80-59 on Thursday night. The win completed a regular season sweep of the Trojans for the Owls, who advanced to 10-9 on the year and 5-3 in Sun Belt play.
FAU had arguably its best offensive performance of the season, with four players scoring in double figures for just the second time this season. The Owls posted season highs in field goals made (31), three-pointers made (13) and assists (24). The team also committed a season low five turnovers.
Greg Gantt, who was honored before the game for becoming the school's all-time leading scorer took just over 11 minutes to score 11 points, as FAU built a lead as big as 11 in the first half. Troy pulled to within two on a couple of occasions, but could never pull even. Four different Owls scored during a 12-0 run to put the lead at 14 with 16:24 left in the second half.
Troy (7-11, 2-5) never seriously threatened again and FAU won for the fourth time in its last five games Gantt ended the night with 23 points. He was joined in double figures by Stefan Moody (15), Pablo Bertone (14), and Jackson Trapp (11).
