MURFREESBORO, TN - A 26-0 run proved decisive in the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team's 62-52 loss to Middle Tennessee on Thursday night.
The run began with seven minutes remaining in the first as the Blue Raiders (13-4, 5-1 Sun Belt) scored the final 16 points of the period, going from a five point deficit to a 35-24 halftime lead. Middle Tennessee continued to build its advantage scoring the first 10 points of the second half. A Pablo Bertone three-pointer snapped the run at the 16:18 mark.
FAU (8-9, 3-3) refused to wilt under the pressure and began a comeback of its own. Jackson Trapp hit a three-pointer with 2:38 left to pull the Owls within eight at 59-51. However, an MT basket followed by an FAU miss and foul ended any hopes of a dramatic finish.
The Owls will continue their road trip on Saturday when they play Western Kentucky. The game will be televised as part of the ESPN Full Court package and will be available on ESPN3.com. Live audio of the game will be available on fausports.com. Tip-off is set for approximately 8 p.m., 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
