RUSTON, La. - A big scoring run to start the second half was the key as the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to Louisiana Tech 84-64 in its first Conference USA game ever on Thursday night.
The Owls (4-11, 0-1 Conference USA) stayed even with the Bulldogs (13-3, 1-0) for most of the first 20 minutes and trailed by just three points, 33-30 at the half. Louisiana Tech scored the first 10 points of the second half before a Dragan Sekelja layup ended the run. The lead remained in double figures the rest of the game.
Justin Raffington registered his third consecutive double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jackson Trapp led the Owls with 16 points. D'Andre Johnson scored 10 points off the bench to give FAU three players in double figures. Johnson also had five assists.
