BOCA RATON, FL - Greg Gantt was one of five Owls in double figures as the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team defeated ULM 74-61 on Saturday night.
Gantt had 13 points at the half as FAU (7-9, 3-2 Sun Belt) had a 39-22 lead at the break. An early second half run by ULM (6-11, 1-5) cut the lead to 13, but the Owls answered and pushed the lead out to as many as 25. Late in the second half, an on-campus blackout stopped the game briefly.
"The reason we played those nonconference games earlier in the season is for games like this and that showed tonight," said head coach Mike Jarvis.
Gantt ended with 20 points to lead FAU. Brett Royster (13), Raymond Taylor (12), Sanchez Hughley (11) and Shavar Richardson (11) were all in double figures. Alex Tucker led the team with 10 assists. The Owls surpassed last season's overall and Sun Belt win totals with the victory. FAU will travel to Western Kentucky on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
