BOCA RATON, FL - Four players finished in double figures for Florida Atlantic University as the Owls defeated visiting Campbell University, 77-60, in Atlantic Sun Conference action Monday night in Boca Raton, FL. Jeff Cowans led FAU (8-5, 5-2 A-Sun) with 15 points. Daryl Dingle added 14 while Raheim Brown had 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Earnest Crumbley also scored 10 for the Owls who never trailed in defeating Campbell (3-10, 1-5 A-Sun). Jonte' Edwards led Campbell with 26 points.
FAU jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the game's first 4:16 and continued to build what was ultimately a 36-23 lead at the half. FAU increased that advantage to 14 points with 17:19 remaining before Campbell mounted its strongest threat of the game by cutting the deficit down to five points with 9:21 to play. The Owls countered with a 10-0 run over the next 3:42 to take control of the game with a 57-42 lead with 5:39 to play.
FAU was outshot 39 percent to 35 percent but outrebounded Campbell 50-36. Robert Williams tied a career-high with 11 rebounds in addition to his nine points. Dingle chipped in nine rebounds as 24 of the Owls' 50 rebounds were offensive.
Campbell committed 19 turnovers against FAU's 13. The Owls also took advantage of 30 free throw attempts, making 25.
The Owls have now won more games through 13 games this season than they did all of last season.
