Jorge Sanz initially returned to what brought him to Florida Atlantic University, video operations, under newly hired head coach Michael Curry. As Director of Video Operations, Sanz oversaw film exchange in addition to assisting with day-to-day operations of the basketball program before being promoted to assistant coach in the spring of 2016. He is the longest tenured member of the program, having joined prior to the 2011-12 season.
Sanz came to FAU in 2010 and was instrumental in the team's Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship and the program's first trip to the NIT. Sanz's role was then expanded to director of basketball operations, a position he served from 2011-14. In that role, Sanz was responsible for a diverse arrange of duties, such as coach and team travel, supervising film editing and exchange, organizing student managers and overseeing the team's academic progress as well as coordinating individual and team camps.
Sanz played his youth basketball for C.B. Zaragoza, in Spain. He came to the United States for his final year of high school where he was a starter for McKeesport High School in Pennsylvania. He returned home to Spain where he worked in the corporate field for five years, until he had the opportunity to follow his passion, basketball.
Sanz used his first season with the Owls to complete his bachelor's degree in business management, in the spring of 2011. He and his wife, Franchesca, currently reside in Boca Raton.
