In FAU's second-to-last regular season game, Gagel started and played a season-high 19 minutes in front of his family and friends at WKU (2/26) in his home state of Kentucky... Scored a season-high four points in that game making his first and only 3-point basket and free throw.
High School: Had a phenomenal prep career at Jeffersontown High School in the Louisville area... Scored 1,277 points and set school records by making 210 three-point shots and shooting 49 percent from a three-point range as a three-year starter... J'Town went 81-17 during those three seasons... Averaged 15.8 points and 4.1 assists as a senior and at season's end was named the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC) 2008 Region 7 Player of the Year and the 2008 Region 7 Tournament MVP...The Associated Press named Gagel to its Kentucky High School Boys' All-State basketball team in 2008, one of just 21 prep players in Kentucky to be recognized by the AP... Also scored 16 points in the 2008 Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game, which earned him game MVP honors... 3-point contest champion at the 2008 Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game...Nominated as a 2008 McDonalds All American... 2008 Louisville Invitational Tournament All-Tournament Team... The `Nick Gagel Leadership Award' was created by his high school coach at Jeffersontown, Jeff Morrow, to recognize leadership... Helped Jeffersontown make four straight regional championship appearances and two state tournament trips (2006 and 2008)...Played a key role on the Chargers' state championship team of 2006...
