BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University rising junior shortstop Tyler Frank was chosen as a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball on Monday, named by the publication to their Second Team.
Frank enters into his third season as the Owls’ leading returning hitter and team leader a year ago in a multitude of offensive statistics. In addition to his .336 batting average, he also paced the squad in runs, hits, doubles and on-base percentage among other categories, and was chosen First Team All-Conference USA.
Following the season, Frank tried out for and earned a spot on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. He has also recently been twice named as a top draft prospect by Baseball America, slotting No. 81 overall among collegians less than a week ago. The Loxahatchee, Florida, native joins two other C-USA players honored by Collegiate Baseball Monday, along with a pair from Southern Miss also chosen Second Team: Nick Sandlin and Matt Wallner.
Frank and the rest of the Owls will return to campus following winter break for the start of the spring semester, with the first day of practice scheduled for Friday, Jan. 26. The team’s 2018 season opener will emanate from FAU Baseball Stadium on Feb. 16 versus George Washington.
