Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team used a five-run second inning to defeat Team British Columbia 8-1 in a rain-shortened fall exhibition game on Wednesday at the FAU Baseball Stadium.
Junior catcher Levi Meyer drove in four runs, legged out three doubles and scored two runs to lead the offensive attack.
Meanwhile, sophomore infielder Ricky Santiago hit a two-run home run down the right-field line to spark the second inning.
Senior outfielder Corey Keller also had a pair of run-scoring singles.
The game was called in the bottom of the fourth inning after a rain shower halted play. On the mound, starting pitcher junior Jeremy Strawn retired all three batters he faced. Senior Hugh Adams had a strikeout in tossing a scoreless second inning. Sophomore Brett Nizamoff and freshman Seth McGarry also saw action in the contest.
The team is scheduled to host an Alumni Game as part of Homecoming festivities on Saturday, October 27, at noon. Members of the 2012 Sun Belt Conference title team will receive their championship rings before the game.
