Junior pitcher Kevin Alexander has won three of the four events in the Iron Owl competition

Boca Raton, FL - Junior pitcher Kevin Alexander continues to lead the Florida Atlantic University baseball program's 2012 Iron Owl Award competition after four events.
The Coral Springs native has placed first in three of the first four events conducted throughout the fall offseason practice session. Alexander has compiled 231 points and holds a 52-point lead over sophomore pitcher Bo Logan. Junior outfielder Geoff Jimemez stands in third place with 168 points, while senior pitcher Michael Sylvestri (165) and senior outfielder Nathan Pittman round out the top five with both having 164 points.
Pittman took the top spot in the most recent tire flip event, posting a time of 51.03 seconds. Each player was timed for flipping the tire a total of 30 times. Sophomore pitcher Austin Gomber finished second in 52.15 seconds and freshman pitcher Kyle Miller earned third place at 52.41 seconds.
This Owls' annual offseason competition features eight tests that identify the strongest baseball player in the program -- mentally and physically.
Future events will award points based on physical strength, knowledge of the game and academic performance.
