BOCA RATON, Fla. - Two members of the Florida Atlantic University baseball team were named All-South Central Region on Wednesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings, with Tyler Frank voted First Team and David Miranda a Second Team honoree.
Frank, the Owls' sophomore shortstop this season, led the squad in a multitude of statistical categories, including batting average at .336. He finished second on the team with 11 home runs, to Miranda's 12. The junior outfielder also was the FAU leader in RBI with 51 and was third in average, hitting .319. The duo tied for the team lead as they each totaled 13 games with two or more RBI. Frank had the most multi-hit games with 21, and Miranda achieved the longest hitting streak of the year at 15 games.
"This is a great honor for us, and the program, for Tyler and David to be recognized as All-Region players," said Head Coach John McCormack. "They both had great years and this is a well-deserved honor. I am happy for both of them."
The eight NCAA Division I All-Region teams are voted on by members of the ABCA. As a First Team member, Frank is now eligible to be chosen as an ABCA/Rawlings All-American. Those teams will be announced this Saturday, June 17.
