Boca Raton, FL - Senior infielder Mike Albaladejo was named to the Sun Belt Conference's All-Tournament Team to conclude his standout Florida Atlantic University baseball career.
Albaladejo had multiple-hit efforts in two of the team's three games in the conference championship tournament from May 23-25. He hit .429 (6-for-14) at the plate, collecting four hits in FAU's victory over Western Kentucky University on May 23 and having a clutch game-tying, two-run double in the top of the ninth inning against the University of Louisiana-Monroe on May 24.
The senior from Winter Garden, Fla., was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection this season at second base after earning preseason all-league honors as a catcher. He posted a team-high .358 batting average and was among the league leaders in hits (76), runs scored (43) and doubles (13) for the season. He also had a .983 fielding percentage while playing a new position after being a three-year starter at catcher.
Albaladejo ranks 10th in school history with 202 games played, including 183 starts. He started and played in all 54 games this season. He concluded his career with a .305 batting average and helped the Owls win regular-season SBC championships in 2012 and 2010. The program had a 131-97 record during Albaladejo's four-year career.
Florida Atlantic had a 32-22 record this spring. This marked the program's 14th straight winning season.
