Senior first baseman Mark Nelson leads the team with six home runs

Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team seeks to extend its season-best six-game winning streak in a midweek game against cross town rival Lynn University on Tuesday, April 2 at the FAU Baseball Stadium, 777 Glades Road on the Boca Raton campus.
FAU stands 19-9 on the season and is tied for first place in the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) with a 7-2 record. The team is coming off a three-game sweep of No. 24-ranked University of South Alabama last weekend in Boca Raton. The Owls won the finale 3-0 on Sunday, March 31 behind a complete-game shutout by junior pitcher Jeremy Strawn.
Offensively, sophomore shortstop Mitch Morales continues to set the pace for the team's offense with a .351 batting average. The Wellington native has also scored 15 runs while driving in an additional 14 runs.
Senior outfielder Nathan Pittman is batting .314 in the leadoff position in the lineup and is tops on the team with 10 stolen bases.
Senior first baseman Mark Nelson hit his team-leading sixth home run in Sunday's victory against South Alabama. The Orlando native also leads the team with 26 RBI and is hitting at a .284 clip for the season.
On the mound, Florida Atlantic pitching staff leads the SBC with a 2.91 earned run average (ERA). Sophomore Austin Gomber anchors the rotation with a 3-1 record and a 1.75 ERA. Strawn stands 2-1 with a 2.72 ERA, while senior Jake Meiers has posted two wins to round out the weekend rotation.
Senior reliever Michael Sylvestri is 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA and senior closer Hugh Adams has recorded eight saves and a school-record 21 career saves. Sophomore Bo Logan is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA, and freshman Kyle Miller earned his first career win with three scoreless innings in FAU's 7-6 win on Saturday, March 30.
Lynn, a NCAA Division II school from Boca Raton, is 22-11 on the season and 6-3 in the Sunshine State Conference. Jason Matusik leads the team with a .393 batting average, 30 RBI and 11 doubles. Ryan Lashley has hit five home runs with a .324 average. The Fighting Knights' pitching staff has compiled a 2.60 ERA.
