Bring a Canned Food Item and Receive a Free Ticket to See the Owls
Feb. 29, 2008
(BOCA RATON, FL) - Here's the pitch: Bring a canned food item and receive a ticket to watch college baseball.
SMARTBOX West Palm Beach, a leader in the portable self storage and moving industry, and the baseball program at Florida Atlantic University today are proud to introduce Pitching In, a food drive that will aid Boca Helping Hands.
Fans donating one canned food item during the Owls' three games against Eastern Michigan (Feb. 29-March 1) and two games against Boston College (March 4-5) - will receive one voucher good for one future ticket, per person, to their choice of Friday games against Sun Belt Conference rivals: Troy (April 11); Western Kentucky (April 25); or Arkansas State (May 9). (Multiple vouchers are available for multiple donations.)
The food will be donated to Boca Helping Hands, a nonprofit organization that served more than 20,000 meals to children and adults and collected nearly 200,000 pounds of food in 2007.
"We're encouraging our community to step up and lend a hand to those in need right here in our back yard," said Steve McCann, one of the owners of SMARTBOX West Palm Beach.
Added FAU baseball coach Kevin Cooney: "Our community is rife with people who need our help, ranging from underprivileged children and low-income families to the elderly and disabled. We're asking our fans not to take things for granted and help someone in need."
