BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team travels to Jacksonville for a two-game series at North Florida on Feb. 25 and 26. The Owls (5-2) have won four of their last five and earned series victories over Notre Dame and Monmouth.
Tuesday's game is scheduled for 6 p.m. while Wednesday's contest is on tap for a 3 p.m. first pitch. UNF (4-2) has wins over Liberty, Richmond and Fairfield and has fallen to USF and Florida.
FAU is 2-2 all-time against UNF and won the last matchup 4-2 in Boca Raton on April 17, 2007.
Freshman Sean Labsan will get his first career start on the mound on Tuesday. The Sarasota, Fla. native is one of only 28 known players who will be starting pitchers and start in another position in the lineup in 2014. Labsan started each game of the Notre Dame series as the designated hitter and also pitched against the Irish.
Sophomore Brandon Rhodes is listed as the Wednesday starter and will take the hill one week to the day after beating Miami in Coral Gables. Rhodes dealt 5.2 innings, striking out five while giving up just two runs.
Freshman Stephen Kerr leads the FAU offense, hitting .524 in his seven starts. His eight runs, 11 hits and five walks lead the squad, as does his .607 on-base percentage. Kerr leads Conference USA in both batting average and on-base percentage.
The Owls return home to host St. Johns and Boston College in a five-game home stand beginning on Friday, Feb. 28. For ticket information, visit FAUSports.com or call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
