FAU Baseball Shut Out at Marshall

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team suffered its fourth shutout of the season, falling 5-0 at Marshall on Friday.

The Owls (16-13, 4-9 C-USA) managed just four hits in the game and left nine stranded on the bases in the game that was moved up four hours due to weather.

Both teams were scoreless until Marshall (10-19, 6-6 C-USA) got on the board in the sixth with a pair of hits to go up 1-0. The Herd sparked three runs in the seventh off of three hits and two FAU errors.

Marshall would tack on an insurance run in the eighth with its first triple of the season and a two-out RBI single up the middle.

The Owls loaded the bases in the ninth as Ricky Santiago doubled and Esteban Puerta and Kevin Abraham each walked, but were unable to bring runners across the plate.

Austin Gomber was tagged with the loss, allowing seven hits and three runs in 6.1 innings. The junior struck out six and walked a pair of the 28 batters he faced.
