The first two triples of the season helped Florida Atlantic University earn its 16th straight win of the season and defeat Harvard, 11-0. The shutout is the third for FAU as they improve their record to 23-6. The Crimson fall to 1-10.
Matt O'Brien recorded his fourth win of the season as he pitched a scheduled three innings. O'Brien gave up two hits and struck out one. Six different relief pitchers entered the game, each pitching one inning. Out of the pen, the team struck out eight and gave up only one hit. The hit came in the ninth with two out. The team also retired 14 in a row as Harvard only collected three hits on the night.
Mike Valdes, a senior from Miami, FL led the team with four RBI. The outfielder posted his fourth home run when he delivered a three-run shot to right in the sixth inning. That proved to be the last time FAU would score in the contest.
L.J. Biernbaum started off the week with a 3-for-3 performance with three singles. FAU also accumulated their first two triples of the season when Shaen O'Connor (Jupiter, FL) hit a ball to deep center and Jeff Fiorentino (Hollywood, FL) hit a line drive into the right field corner. Both hits came with the bases empty.
Jacksonville State will travel to Boca Raton on Friday and Saturday for a three-game conference
series with FAU. The first pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7 pm.
