Final Stats

Despite out hitting Florida Atlantic University 13-12, Eastern Michigan University (0-4) fell to No. 21 Florida Atlantic University Friday night at FAU Stadium 12-6. Four multiple run innings helped propel FAU to a 6-1 record.

Randy Beam (3-0) paced FAU's staff with five innings of work. He struck out five and only walked one holding the Eagles scoreless. The young bullpen for the home team looked a little shaky as it gave up six run in four innings.

Florida Atlantic University's offense strung together hits to post its highest scoring game of the season. Three doubles, a triple, and Jeff Fiorentino's second home run of the season saw FAU post four runs in the eighth to secure the victory.

Anthony Tomey got his first loss of the season for EMU after pitching six innings and giving up five earned runs. Eastern Michigan's Preseason All-Americans, Brian Bixler and Ryan Goleski could not help out Tomey as they went 1-for-4 and 2-for-5, respectively. Catcher, Brad Hrovat produced four RBIs with two singles to lead both teams.

Florida Atlantic had three players Fiorentino, Mike Cox and Rob Horst each produce two RBIs. The trio batted two, three and four in the FAU lineup.

The second game of the three-game series will be played on Saturday, 7 pm at FAU Stadium.
