Junior (2012): Earned second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors after hitting .291 with 22 runs batted in and 23 runs scored as a catcher...threw out 28 percent on potential base steals (10-of-36)...hit first home runs of the season against Fordham (3/13)...also had a home run against FIU (3/18) and Louisiana (3/30)...recorded 12 multiple-hit games, highlighted by a three-hit performance against Princeton (3/3)...drove in a season-best three runs in a win over Fordham (3/13)...went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Sun Belt Conference tournament game against ULM (5/24).

Sophomore (2011): Made a smooth transition to playing first base and served as backup catcher...posted a .259 batting average with 15 hits...made 30 appearances, including 16 starts...hit only home run of season and second of his career in a home Sun Belt Conference win over Louisiana-Monroe (4/17)...drove in a career-high three runs in a home win over Middle Tennessee State (3/27)...recorded two hits against Stony Brook (2/26) and MTSU...scored five runs and legged out one double.

Freshman (2010): Powerful and reliable backup catcher who can handle the pitching staff...appeared in 13 games (five starts) with one home run...recorded his first collegiate hit in style with a solo home run in a win over Rutgers (3/16)...had two walks in back-to-back games against Cornell (3/23) and Miami (4/7)...went 1-for-4 in the victory over Lynn (4/13)...played summer ball for the Staunton Braves of the Valley League.

High School:
Played at Golden Gate High School for Head Coach Bob Smith...was a first team all-state selection during his senior year...was all-region choice for two seasons and an all-county selection all four years...holds season record for batting average, RBIs and home runs, and had an all-time career mark in homers and slugging percentage.

Personal: Son of Robert and Darlene Spano...public safety major who aspires to be a fire fighter...enjoys hunting and fishing.
