Baseball Wins Sun Belt Conference Title with Dramatic 4-3 Win over FIU

Owls score three runs in the ninth inning to rally past FIU

Junior (2011): Was team's No. 1 starting pitcher after focusing exclusively on pitching. He spent the first two years as an outfielder/pitcher...tied with R.J. Alvarez for most starts (15)...posted a winning record for the second consecutive season with 5-4 record...had most productive outing with one unearned run over eight innings in home victory over Louisiana-Monroe (4/15)...scattered four hits and one unearned run in 7.1 innings in a no-decision at Arkansas State (4/21)...allowed two runs in six quality innings of regular-season meeting with Western Kentucky (5/6)...struck out five batters in seven innings in home win over Arkansas-Little Rock (5/13)...had a season-high eight strikeouts against Monmouth (3/4) and South Alabama (4/8)...struck out 54 batters overall on the season in 76.2 innings...helped lead Bethesda Big Train to a summer collegiate national championship as decided by Perfect Game.

Sophomore (2010): Hard-throwing right-hander with a solid breaking ball...came on strong at the end of the season and took over for teammate Taylor Everist as team's No 1 starting pitcher during series at Louisiana...appeared in 17 games (10 starts) and went 7-3 with a 4.87 ERA, 70 strikeouts and only 27 walks in 81.1 innings...finished second on team in wins behind Mike Gipson (8)...struck out 11 batters in relief of team's victory over Troy (3/12)...the 11 strikeouts was the most in one game by any FAU pitcher during the 2010 season...earned his first victory as a starter with an outstanding performance against MTSU (4/2), pitching eight innings and allowing only one run off nine hits, one walk and 10 strikeouts...allowed one run over seven innings in a victory over Arkansas State (4/30)...pitched seven innings and allowed two runs in a victory over South Alabama (5/7)...started the opening game of the Sun Belt Tournament against WKU (5/26)...earned the win in the NCAA Gainesville Regional victory over Bethune-Cookman (6/5)...spent summer playing for Colombia Blowfish of the Coastal Plains League.

Freshman (2009):
Appeared in 18 games out of the bullpen as a reliever and recorded 18 strikeouts in 22 innings... also started one game in left field and another as a designated hitter... one of just two two-way players on FAU's 2009 roster... showed signs late in the year of becoming a reliable arm out of the bullpen... enjoyed six straight scoreless appearances from April 21 to May 12...struck out a season-high five hitters at Arkansas State (5/9) during a season-high 3 2/3 scoreless innings in a key Sun Belt Conference road series in early May... allowed just three extra-base hits and issued only seven walks.

High School: Was a two-way standout player at J.W. Mitchell High School in one of the toughest divisions in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area (Class 6A, District 7)...had outstanding senior season as a starting pitcher, with 12 and 13 single-game strikeout performances and a 1.54 ERA...as an infielder, established a school record for runs scored in one game and finished his career second all-time at J.W. Mitchell in hits...participated in Under Armour Preseason All-America Tournament and Under Armour Southeast Regional Wood Bat Tournament...named a top pro prospect by Perfect Game U.S.A...also played varsity football... outstanding prep student, earning All-Sunshine Athletic Conference academic honors.
