Criminal Justice

As a Junior (`01): Made 20 appearances and three starts. Finished the year with a 5.23 ERA. Longest outing of the season was against Bethune-Cookman when he pitched 4.2 innings. Also had a season-high five strikeouts in that game. Had a team-high two saves against Jacksonville and Troy State. Pitched 31 innings and struck out 24.

Summer League (`00): Played for Derek Hacopian and the Bethesda Big Train, a member of Clark Griffin Collegiate League.

As a Sophomore (`00): Used mostly as a speciality pitcher, pitching to just one or two batters. Longest outing was one and a third innings against Minnesota, a game which he tallied three strikeouts. Allowed just one hit in that outing.

Summer League (`99): Played for Derek Hacopian in the Bethesda Big Train of the Clark Griffin Collegiate League.

As a Freshman (`99): Finished his freshman season with a 1-0 record and a 2.70 ERA. Earned a start during the win streak, against Wright State, a game in which he worked five innings. Remaining innings came as one-inning relief appearances. Had a strikeout in all but one game pitched.. Held opponents to a .200 batting average. Made two appearances at the A-Sun Championship.

High School: Played for Buddy Weider at West Morris Central High School. Named Second Team All-State and Second Team All-County.

Summer League: Played for Mike Roberts and the Coral Springs Pokers. Member of the 1997 State Connie Mack Championship team.

Personal: Criminal Justice major. Son of Kevin Cooney and Bernadette Cooney. Norn April 6, 1980 in Morristown, NJ.
