Track & Field Announces 2014 Schedule

Boca Raton, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University’s track and field team has released their 2014 schedule. FAU will be competing against over a hundred teams throughout this competitive season. "We’re excited for our first indoor and outdoor season in Conference USA, and are very much looking forward to seeing how our young group performs on a number of new tracks throughout our region” said head coach, Alex Smolka.

The indoor season is set to begin on Friday, January 17 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Owls will then head to Winston-Salem, NC to compete in the two-day JDL Fast Lane meet starting on Friday, January 31.

The season will continue with two meets in February. The Owls that will head up north to compete at the Akron Invitational in Ohio and then finish the regular indoor season at Southern Miss in Birmingham, AL. The Owls will return to Birmingham for the Conference USA Indoor Championships, competing against the conference’s sixteen teams on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1.

The 2014 outdoor season is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 21 at the annual UM Hurricane Invitational, a two-day event, in Coral Gables, Fla. The following weekend, UM will host their second invitational in which the Owls will be competing. The outdoor season continues in April with FAU competing in three track and field meets throughout the state of Florida. The team then travels to Philadelphia for the three-day Penn Relays on Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26.

The Owls will travel to Houston, Texas for the C-USA Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 15 through Sunday, May 18. The 2014 outdoor season’s last scheduled meet is the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Thursday, May 29 through Saturday, May 31 in Jacksonville, Fla. The top forty-eight in each event compete and then the top twelve qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships two weeks later.
