Meyer, FAU’s team captain, put on an impressive offensive display to begin his senior campaign. The catcher went 8-for-11 on the weekend with seven RBI, three runs, two walks (one intentional), a double and his first career triple. The Wichita, Kan. native had an on-base percentage of .786. He recorded multiple hits in each game and had two three-RBI outings. He reached safely on six of his last seven plate appearances, driving in four runs in that span.
Martinez finished the 60 meter dash preliminaries in 7.72 then improved her finish in the finals crossing the finish line in 7.65 for fourth-place. The freshman now holds the second-best time in school history for the event and 11th-place in Conference USA. Martinez went on to finish the 200 meter dash in 24.55 claiming eighth-place at the invitational and tying with the school record set in 2008. Her finish in the 200 meter ranks her seventh in the conference.
FAU’s baseball team is back on the diamond on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the University of Miami and returns to Boca to play Monmouth University in a three-game series starting on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Track and field will prepare for its first appearance at the 2014 Conference USA Track and Field Indoor Championships beginning on Friday, Feb. 28.
