BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's cross country team, is the 2012 fall recipient of the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.
Both men's cross country and women's cross country had 75% of their team earn a 3.0+ G.P.A. however, the men's team's cumulative G.P.A. of 3.28 edged the women's (3.09) to take the departmental award.
One of the top student-athletes for men's cross country was Charles Skord, who earned was a President's List honoree with a 4.0 G.P.A. Megan Baryfrom the women's team also earned President's List honors.
"It exemplifies that our team take the words student-athlete - seriously," said Alex Smolka, FAU's head cross country and track coach. "We focus on both words and we pride ourselves in showing that hard work pays off both athletically and academically."
