Track and Field Opens Indoor Season With Two Meets in Birmingham

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University track and field will bookend their indoor season in Birmingham, Alabama, and kicks off the campaign this weekend with meets on both Friday and Saturday, each hosted by fellow Conference USA program UAB.

The Blazer Invitational, featuring 18 women's squads, is set for Friday, followed by the Vulcan Invitational the following day, with 24 women's teams represented. Both will take place at the Birmingham CrossPlex, with Friday tentatively beginning at 11 a.m. EST, and Saturday at 9 a.m. Eastern.

In addition to UAB, another C-USA rival, FIU, competes each day. Charlotte will take part in Saturday's Vulcan Invite as well. Oher top-tier programs the Owls will face off against include No. 15 Mississippi State and UCF on both days, No. 12 Ole Miss, No. 20 Alabama and Miami on Friday only, and Tennessee on Saturday.

  • 5,000 meters - Johanna Freeman, Kelsey Meltzer
  • Mile - Hardcastle
  • 60 meters - McDougle
  • 60 meter hurdles - McDougle, Smith
  • 800 meters - Fontanez, Giovanniello, Jonsson, Lersch
  • 200 meters - Boldin, Valentin, Anne-Catherine Wasser
  • 3,000 meters - Clark, Schultz
  • 4x400 meter relay (Two teams)
  • Long jump - Jenkins, Wasser
  • Shot put - Thorsås
  • High jump - Jenkins, Thorsås
