HOUSTON, Texas – Florida Atlantic University Track and Field completed day two of the 2014 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Ashley Stewart set a personal record in all three of the remaining women’s decathlon events.
Stewart recorded 5.20 meters in the long jump heptathlon for tenth-place. The sophomore went on finish 11th in the sixth heptathlon event, the women’s javelin, with 23.95 meters. She finished 11th in the final heptathlon event, the women’s 800 meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:43.36. Stewart finished with a point total of 4,177, a personal record and the third-best finals total in school history. Chloe Sell competed in the 10,000 meter run, finishing seventh and running her second-best time ever. Sell is first individual to score points at the Conference USA Championship.
FAU will compete in the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship’s third day of events on Saturday. Saturday’s running events will feature the 100 and 400 hurdles, the 100, 200, 400 and 800 and 1,500 meter dash and the 3000 steeplechase. Saturday’s field events include the long jump, the discus, the men’s pole vault and the women’s high jump.
