Track & Field Completes Day Two of the C-USA Outdoor Championships

Day Two Results

Florida Atlantic University completed day two of the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Owls set a new school record in the heptathlon and several lifetime best in the 10,000m final.

Frida Thorsås wrapped up the final three events in the heptathlon after finishing day one in third place with a total of 3,075. The sophomore finished third in the long jump, leaping 5.69m. In her second event of the day, Thorsås claimed victory in the javelin by throwing 43.26m and then went on to claim the victory in the 800m with a time of 2:12.86. Thorsås finished the heptathlon in third place overall with a point total of 5,484, setting a school record that she broke earlier this season at the University of Miami Alumni Invitational. She is now ranked fifth on FAU's All-Time Top 10 List in the 100m hurdles, and fourth in the long jump.

To close out the night, Clare Brinkman, Christina Schultz, and Kia Heller-Spencer competed in the 10,000 meter final, all setting lifetime best in the event. Brinkman finished the event in 11th overall with a time of 37:54.90 and is now ranked third All-Time on FAUs Top 10 List. Schultz claimed 13th place recording a time of 38:36.98 and is now currently fifth All-Time on FAU's Top 10 List. Rounding out the group for FAU was Kia Heller-Spencer, coming in at 17th with a final time of 39:11.87, which earned her 7th overall on FAU's All-Time Top 10 List. FAU is currently tied in eighth place with a total of 6 points while Rice leads with 39.



Saturday, May 16 will feature the preliminaries for the majority of the running events beginning with the women's 1500 meter at 4 p.m. ET. The meet will be streamed live here and real-time results can be found here.
