Women's Track and Field Finishes First Day of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's track and field team opened up competition at the 2014 Pepsi Florida Relays at Percy Beard Track on the University of Florida Campus. The collegiate events will take place through Sunday, April 6.

Regina Wilkerson followed up her performance last week with another sub 12 performance in the 100 meter dash running her second best time ever of 11.91 for 45th-place. Deja Jones competed in the event breaking 12 seconds for the first time and setting another new personal record running 11.98 for 52nd-place.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Danielle Aromashodu ran out of lane one recording her third best time of her career and her fastest time of the year. She lengthened her lead in Conference USA's standings and moved up on the national list crossing the finish line in 59.19 for 14th-place.

Sitia Martinez ran another new personal record in the event, shaving almost a full second off her time from Miami last week. Martinez ran 61.79 for 35th-place and she is now ranked 5th in the conference.

Chloe Sell competed in the 5000 meter finishing in 30th-place. Sell finished in 17:33.56 beating her previous record by 11 seconds. The sophomore is now ranked third on FAU's all-time records list.

FAU will continue competition at the Florida Relays on Saturday, April 5.
