Two female athletes share honors in the latest installment of the Florida Atlantic “Student-Athletes of the Week.”
Darija Sataric had a big hand in helping the Owls win their first Sun Belt match in nearly two years. The junior tied her career high with 17 kills in a five set loss to FIU on Wednesday night. On Saturday night, she had 15 kills in a five set win over Louisiana. In Monday’s win over Holy Cross, Sataric had a team-high 10 kills and no errors in 16 attempts. Her .625 hitting percentage was a season high for her. In three matches, the native of Biberist, Switzerland hit .324 and averaged 3.23 kills per set.
Meanwhile, senior Stacy Paton achieved the first top-10 finish for a men’s or women’s cross country runner this season. Paton finished seventh in the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic on Saturday, crossing the finish line in a time of 19:20.10. The senior, from Stuart, Florida, has finished first for the women in all four of the team’s meets, and her finish Saturday was her fastest so far this season.
