Tuscaloosa, AL - Two runners for the Florida Atlantic University women's cross country team set personal and school marks while competing in Saturday's NCAA South Regional meet in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The meet concluded the 2011 season.

Senior Rebecca Hallam posted a career-best finish (35th, 21:47.4) and came within 18 seconds of receiving All-Region honors. Meanwhile, freshman Michelle Jax set a new freshman school record time (22:09.9) and her 56th-place finish was among the top 15 freshmen in the 6,000-meter race, hosted by the University of Alabama.

"Rebecca and Michelle both proved that they can perform very well on a big stage," said Alex Smolka, FAU's head cross country coach. "They both ran a very competitive time in a strong field."

Hallam concluded her cross country career with a runner's strong finishing kick. She earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors at this year's league championships.
