Aromashodu Barely Misses Advancing at NCAA Preliminaries

May 26, 2012

JACKSONVILLE, FLDanielle Aromashodu represented the Florida Atlantic track team on Thursday, competing in the 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA East Preliminaries.

Aromashodu, a sophomore native of Miami, finished sixth in her heat and 34th overall, in a time of 1:00.54. According to her head coach, she missed qualifying for the next round by less than a second.

“Danielle looked like she was on her way to the second round until she clipped hurdle #8, which made her lose her balance slightly and cost her the chance to advance,” said FAU head track coach Alex Smolka. “But she had an outstanding season, defending her Sun Belt championship and running over a second faster at regionals than she did last year.”

Aromashodu will return for her junior season with two straight SBC 400 meter hurdle titles, and two years running in that event at the NCAA Preliminaries.
