The Florida Atlantic University track team will open their outdoor season at the UCF Outdoor Invitational this weekend.

The Owls are coming off their first Sun Belt Indoor Championship meet, where they finished eighth in the team competition and freshman Friederike Feil won two individual titles. Feil won both the mile and 3,000 meters at the meet and was honored as Freshman of the Year and Outstanding Women Track Performer of the Year. Head Track Coach Alex Smolka has an idea as to why Feil has been so successful in her first year.

"She has a tremendous work ethic and she the strategy she used to win her races was great."

FAU's sprinters will be looking to recover from a difficult Championship weekend when they travel to Orlando. The group had four DNF's and hopes to rebound at their first outdoor meet.

The UCF Outdoor Invitational will be held Saturday, March 3 and live scoring will be available at SteepleTiming.com
