BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University track team enters its second season in the Sun Belt Conference, poised to rise into the upper echelon of the league.

The Owls return the vast majority of runners from last year's team that took eighth place in both the Sun Belt Indoor and Outdoor Championships and four of the six athletes who advanced to the East Regional in Gainesville, FL. Included in that group in Friederike Feil who won the women's mile and 3,000 meter individual titles at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships.

The Owls also made a key addition to its coaching staff over the offseason. Owen McGregor, an alum of Pac-10 powerhouse Arizona State, who was an assistant coach at his alma mater and at Central Arizona College,was hired as an assistant coach. He was most recently head track and cross country coach at Phoenix College before coming to FAU. McGregor will work focus on coaching and recruiting for the sprint events.

The indoor season starts with a trip to Baton Rouge to take part in the LSU Invitational. The LSU Invitational attracts teams from across the South to compete in a meet hosted by a traditional power in collegiate track and field. The meet will be held Saturday, January 19 with track preliminaries and field event finals in the morning. Track event finals will begin at 4:00 p.m. Live results of the meet will be available by logging on to LSUsports.net and clicking "Live Stats".
