Cross Country Runs at Disney

Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Disney Classic held at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando on Saturday morning. The women came away with a third place finish, while the men finished 18th out of 32 teams.

Florida and Tampa were the only two teams to beat the Lady Owls in the field of 32. FAU came away with an average time of 18:50 in the 5K race. Raynell Hagberg led the charge with a personal best time of 18:24 for a 13th place finish.

Monica Grbowiecka, Allison Wilcox, Brittany Powers and Linn Modin all came away with top-40 finishes and personal best times.

The team finished ahead of in-state rivals Florida International, UCF, Florida State and USF.

The men's team had four out of five runners finish with personal best times in the five mile race. Freshman Nick Jarriel led the field with a 33rd place finish in a time of 26:32 followed by Earl Barlow (27:19), Stephen Little (27:51), Will Jennings (30:54) and Daniel Githens (34:06).

The teams will next compete on Friday in DeLand, FL in the Stetson Invitational.
