Athens, GA - Florida Atlantic University traveled to Athens, GA Saturday afternoon to compete at the Georgia Invitational. Claudia Beitel, an Art History major, missed her graduation ceremony this weekend but made up for it on the track. Beitel finished first in the 1500m with a time of 4:35.61. Brittany Powers also had a standout day, placing second in the 5000m with a school-record time of 18:34.96. Powers beat the previous record (19:38.32) by more than a minute.

Helenor Wilson took third in the 400m hurdles. The junior from Brooklyn, NY finished with a time of 1:03.06.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Amy Springer stood out with a 4th place finish. Springer raced over the hurdles, through the water, and around the track in 12:30.61.

The other top-four finish for the Lady Owls was in the 4x100 relay. FAU placed fourth in 46.72.

The Lady Owls return to action Saturday, May 8, at the Orange in Purple Invitational, in Clemson, SC.
