Track Closes Out Regular Season At Penn Relays

April 30, 2012

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Florida Atlantic track team finished up the regular season as eight members of the team traveled to the renowned Penn Relays.

Ashani Roberts had the squad’s highest individual finish as her leap of 11.80 meters in the triple jump placed her sixth among the 27 athletes participating in the event.

Both Michelle Jax and Danielle Aromashodu finished in the top 15 in their respective races. Jax, in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, was less than one second off of her personal best time, finishing 12th at 10:52.22. In the 400 meter hurdles, Aromashodu placed 13th with a time of 1:01.10, in a field of 64 runners.

Rebecca Hallam posted the third fastest time in FAU history in the 5,000 meters, at 17:04.79. Stacy Paton set a new personal record in that event, crossing the finish line at 18:31.62.

Finally, setting a new season-low time was the 4x400 meter relay team. Aromashodu, Anna-Lisa Myers, Valerie Dixon and Annakay Dennis combined for a finish of 3:47.62 despite poor weather conditions.

The full FAU squad will now move on to the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championships, which will begin Friday, May 11, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
