JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Florida Atlantic track team, in a weather-shortened Best Western/UNF Invitational, placed five athletes in the top 10 in their respective events.

Ashani Roberts had the team's top finish, fourth in the triple jump, at an even 12 meters. Joelle Etienne (11.04m), Tatiana David (11.03) and Demetria Brown (10.85) were 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively.

Only eight women's events were completed on Saturday, with the only other top finisher for the Owls being Anna-Lisa Myers in the 400-meter dash (eighth, 56.30).

On Friday night, the FAU distance runners took center stage. Freshman Michelle Jax earned a top-10 finish in the 5,000 meter run (10th, 17:08.49, a new personal record). Stacy Paton finished 20th, and Deanna Loafman had her first-ever under-19 minute finish, 18:55.51, which placed her 22nd. Freshman Paige Lawton improved her PR by more than a minute, finishing 26th in 19:20.00.

In the 10,000 meter run, the Owls had two top-10 finishers. Megan Bary was ninth, at 41:49.08. Freshman Tara Cripe, competing in her first 10K, was 10th at 42:10.97.



The FAU squad travels to Gainesville, beginning Friday, April 6, for the UF Florida Relays.
