Track and Field Completes Action at Florida Relays

Gainesville, FL - Florida Atlantic University's Claudia Beitel continued her mastery in outdoor track competition this year, winning her sixth consecutive race while the distance medley team set a new school record in the final day of competition at the Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida. Beitel, 1500m and one mile run, finished first in both events she participated in.

The senior art history major from Longwood, FL, ran the one mile invitational in 4:58.48, remaining perfect in the outdoor track season. Beitel's lowest finish this year was third place in the one mile run at the Gator Invitational February 1. She has seven first place finishes among three events: 1500m, 3000m and the one mile run.

The distance medley team consisting of Monika Grabowiecka, Christina Dutko, Amy Springer and Artemis Saridakis set a new school record with a time of 12:31.48, finishing ninth overall.

Helenor Wilson finished 23rd overall in the 400m hurdles, with a time of 1:02.84 while Lindsay Glover and Cindy Lane completed the event in 1:04.08 and 1:04.83, respectively.

The 4x100m relay team ran a season best time of 46.83 while the 4x200m and 4x400m teams ran times of 1:39.27 and 3:54.26, respectively.

Florida Atlantic returns to action Friday, April 2, at the USF Invitational in Tampa, FL.
