Claudia Beitel finished first in the 3000m for the second consecutive week.

Coral Gables, FL. - Florida Atlantic University track and field continued its success this year with 15 top-ten finishes and one first place finish at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami. Claudia Beitel broke her own record in the 3000m, set only last week, to finish first overall in that event while the 4x400m relay team set a new school record.
Beitel, a junior from Longwood, FL, finished first overall in the 3000m with a school record time of 10:10.53. This marks the second time in as many weeks that Beitel finished first in the 3000m. Beitel placed second overall in the 1500m, finishing 16 seconds behind the winner.
Jian Jones continued her freshman success with a sixth place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 12 seconds flat. Daquia McCoy placed fifth overall in the 200m dash with a time of 23.90 seconds for her second top ten finish in the 200m dash this year. Shanna Williams finished in 10th place out of 24 competitors in the 400m dash with a time of 57.37 seconds. Raynell Hagberg, who finished first in the 800m at UCF, placed 6th with a time of 2:13.80.
The FAU "A" team placed fifth overall in the 4x400m relay with a new school record time of 3:49.39 while placing fourth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 45.86 seconds.
The men's long distance team saw four runners compete in the Hurricane Invitational. Greg Burke finished 7th in the 800m with a time of 1:57.38, Danny Goldsmith placed 9th overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.29 while Lee Beckman and Kendrick Ribeiro both competed in the 3000m with times of 9:48.62 and 10:07.86 respectively.
