The Florida Atlantic University track team competed at the Hurricane Invitational over the weekend.
The Owls made a great account for themselves at the meet that annually attracts some of the best talent on the east coast. FAU got off to a good start in the 100-meter dash in which four Owls placed in the top-20 finishers. Trishauna Clarke was able to carry over the success she enjoyed during the indoor season and set new personal records the both the 100 meters (12.07) and 200 meters (24.70)
Friederike Feil placed third in the 1500 meters and second in the 3000 meters, which was the highest finish for any FAU athlete at the meet. The 1500 meters also saw four Owls set personal records in the event as Feil (4:39.84), Ashley Wilcox (4:58.62), Barbara Fronrath (5:01.34) and Toni Jackson (5:02.58) all bested their previous times in the event.
Yanique Booth placed third in the 100-meters hurdles, qualifying for the NCAA Regional in a time of 13.56 seconds. Ashley Davis finished 10th in the event as an unattached athlete. The 4x100 relay team finished a strong sixth in a time of 46.63.
On the men's side, several athletes competed at the middle distances, and Jordan Zwick finished 21st (9:32.76) in the 3000 meters to set a new school record in that event.
Next weekend, the Owls will travel to Orlando to participate in the Disney World Invitational.
