BOCA RATON, FL -- Six school records fell as the Florida Atlantic University women's track and field team competed for the first time in the 2006 indoor season on Sunday at the Florida Intercollegiate held in Gainesville, FL.
The distance medley team of Jian Jones, Christina Dutko, Artemis Saridakis, and Raynell Hagberg broke the school record while picking up a victory, as did Trisha Doyle in the 5,000m with a time of 18:08.51.
Raynell Hagberg (800m, 2:11.85), Yanique Booth (8.02, 55m hurdles), Marilyn Stephens (58.51, 400m), and Krystena Castro (shot put, 41-08 ½) all set new school records. Hagberg's time was good enough for a third-place finish, but was just 0.35 seconds behind the lead pace in a close finish among the top three.
"I was very happy with the way we performed," said head coach Alex Smolka. "I think it is a very good showing for our first meet of the season, and it gives us a lot to build on for next week."
In addition to the school records that fell, Jennifer Schwan set a personal best in the 3,000m with a time of 11:04.71.
Jennifer Schwan 11:04.71
Trisha Doyle 18:08.51
(Jones, Dutko, Artemis Saridakis, Hagberg) 12:34.11
Krystena Castro 41-08.50
